Committee Work

- Clearance examinations conducted by third parties
- Specialized cleaning of affected exterior paved surfaces and approved covering of unpaved exterior areas

The work above is being performed by American Services Group, which performs specialized cleaning services.
CPS is currently weighing options to determine where Heberle classes will be held. The lead abatement preliminary costs for Heberle stand at about $1.5 million. CPS is considering modifications to the Master Facilities Plan to determine Heberle’Äôs location for the beginning of the 2003-04 school year. CPS hopes to have a recommendation about the location of Heberle classes by mid-July.
After the work is completed this summer, CPS will establish essential maintenance practices as described by new law HB 248 of April 7, 2003. The routines will include regular inspections, repair of deteriorated paint, encouragement of school community members to report concerns about potential lead hazards, perform specialized cleaning to control lead-contaminated dust yearly, cover of any bare soil that may be lead-contaminated, maintenance of essential records for three years and completion of appropriate training programs for staff engaged in these activities approved by the State Department of Health.
