Senate Bill 5 is an Unfair Law
Workers can still be jailed for striking.Workers can be dismissed from their jobs without reason. This extreme bill gives bosses the power to hire and fire, promote and demote, punish or reward, favor or harass anyone they want to at will.
Favoritism pay means workers will hae to face being punished with pay cuts, demotions, even risk of being fired in order to speak up for their right to have bulletproof vests, oxygen masks, safe vehicles, more firefighters on the truck etc.
Bosses hold all the cards and that means a return to the days of racial and gender discrimination, cronyism, nepotism, and favoritism. Friends will hire friends. Bosses will hire family members. |

Proposed Senate Bill 5 ends Collective Bargaining for all State Workers -
On Wednesday, February 9, 2011, Sen. Shannon Jones, R-Springboro proposed senate bill 5 which essentially would wipe out collective bargaining rights for all state workers including institutions of Higher Education. Some of the items in the bill that directly effect CFT/ACPSOP represented employees include:
- Removing health insurance from collective bargaining and would require all employees to cover a minimum of 20% of cost.
- Teachers will not have the right to pick placement.
- Longevity no longer a factor in layoff decisions.
These are only a few of the bill items. Click here to read the entire testimony as presented by Sen. Jones. |
